Prague from 1918 till today
The biggest growth of the Prague was connected with the origination of the Czechoslovak republic. Many people surely remember the well known year 1918 when we shaked hand with our Slovak brothers. There was a law accepted according to which a “big Prague” arises on the 1st of November 1922. And so the inhabitants of Karlín, Kobylisy, Vysočany, Smíchov, Hlubočepy, Vinohrady, Vršovice, Žižkov and many others became valid residents of Prague. Today, the city of Prague is divided into many parts. If you decide to count all the city parts of Prague, we can help you a bit – there are 57 of them.
Prague grows up
The initial land measurement of the area is almost filled up. It is not a surprise if you consider the fact that Prague stretches its fingers as far as it can. Even the natural obstacles and bad weather conditions mean nothing. Prague can handle both on its way to spread as much as it is possible and to take the needful area for everyone who would like to settle here. Ramparts and monumental gates, which you can see in the centre of Prague, are no longer the peripheral defensive parts of the city. They had moved to the centre of the city and form the historical and sightseeing part, which is daily admired by thousands of tourists coming here to enjoy their beauty. They have no idea about the original function of those constructions. None of the tourists would guess that they could serve to another purpose except being photographed and creating the atmosphere worth of amazement.
Prague today
This is the Prague you can see in these days – hungry, go-ahead and full of enthusiasm. As a big city, Prague can afford things that smaller cities can only dream about. Thanks to this fact, many things happening there are tolerated, unfortunately, sometimes also in bad connections. However, it is the capital city which took an important role in the process of forming the world’s history. This is the fact. Prague is definitely a place which is worth to visit, at least once in life.
