Interesting buildings
The Jewish Town is full of houses and noteworthy buildings which would stand out of the crowd wherever else except here. But you cannot be surprised. It was the only one place Jews could live in, construct and studied. It could be compared to a giant museum displaying on a small area all the art, workmanship and skills of people who did not deserved a destiny that met them.
The Old New Synagogue is not the only one building remained there in Josefov. Right opposite of this building stands another synagogue – the High Synagogue built by Mordechai Maisel. The high Synagogue was the place where the council of the elders and the Jewish court used to stay and hold a meeting. Other Maisel’s construction was the Klaus Synagogue. It was named after three rooms called “klaus”, from which it consists of. Next interesting building is the Jewish Town Hall which is famous for the clock. That clock showing time does not look common; it is equipped with Hebrew figures and its hour hand rotates backwards, i.e. from right to left. This is the same direction as if you read a Hebrew text.
